Railay was really lovely. Especially after the mad partying of the island before. It was quiet with just a few bars to chill in. Our hotel had a swimming pool so we spent a couple of days just winding down, having a swim or going for walk over to the beach. We saw the most amazing sunset here. I haven't seen one yet that beats it, it was truly magical. The photos don't do it much justice but the scenery was just something else. Just surrounded by huge rocks of mountain.
One other night, we went and watched some Thai boxing. We sat with a few beers, having a chat and playing various thinking games and then watched a traditional thai match. We think it was a set up though. And on the way back, me and Billie got attacked by bats. Possibly a slight exaggeration, but it felt like a bat attack for sure. We screamed and ran ahead.
Oh and then there was the guy who owned the bar with the sea boxing. Sea boxing was a pole in the sea, where 2 people volunteered to get on it and box eachother until one of them went in. Best out of 3. Anyway the guy was from manchester, and he'd spent a life time partying. Well we only assumed that by the the wet wrag looking skin on his face. Haha I know that sounds mean, Im just trying to set a character here. He spoke with his eyes wide open and made jokes about random things. He showed us some magic tricks as well which were quite fun.
So after a few days of some hardcore 'chillaxing', we decided to head to our next destination of Phi Phi. We got to the beach at 9am as told, and waited. And waited. That's the thing with thai's. We realised they tell you a time, you wait around, but then you get to the destination at the correct time anyway. Finally we got ushered on to another longtail boat. This time there was the correct amount of people in them, so no lives were flashing before any eyes. As we chugged along, we joked that we would have to climb on to the ferry that would take us to Phi Phi. Do we not learn by now. NEVER joke about these things. Sure enough a ferry came along, all the longtail boats rallied round it and we climbed from out boats on to the ferry. Mid sea. Luckily our backpacks were carried on for us, so we had all our balance to climb on to the ferry. I think P&O should try it out. The boat journey was great. Everyone just had a read, listened to their ipod, or slept.
